ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

SAWC Equality

The two-day conclave seeks to explore solutions for women and girls in South Asia by designing an institutional network for collaboration and women-led change, bringing together leading stakeholders from South Asia working on the broad rubric of gender equity and justice. The conference includes workshops, small group discussions and breakout sessions, to encourage networking among delegates, for them to explore innovative solutions and exchange notes on best practices, strategic partnerships and leadership tools. The discussions are expected to contribute to the designing of strategic tools towards the enhancement of women’s access to education, employable skills development, job opportunities, prospects of women-led entrepreneurship, women’s participation in democratic processes and politics, women’s safety, and women’s presence in the media. As the world gradually comes to terms with Covid-19 pandemic, its gendered effects call for further deliberation.

The conclave celebrates women at work even as it seeks to forge a transformative institutional platform to share or scale up their solutions with efficacy. At the same time it will mark a step ahead towards Goal No 17 of SDGs, which emphasises ‘Partnership for the Goals’.

INSPIRATION AND IMPACT

The conference seeks to bolster and energize the regional network of women on shared strategies for advancing the position of women across South Asia. It will also highlight the role that alumni can play in building bridges and influencing geopolitics.  It will also be a step towards Goal No 17 of SDGs that aims at building partnerships for achieving the goals.

The conference will build a strong network of alumni in the South Asian region who will share ideas and build innovative projects that related to women’s leadership, access to education, skills development, job opportunities, women-led entrepreneurship, advancing women’s participation in democratic processes and politics, women’s safety, and their role and representation in media. It will also provide a platform for the alumni to share success stories, best practices and strategize ways to counter challenges.
